WhatsApp Introduces Chat Filtering Feature for Beta Testers on Android

WhatsApp users, rejoice! A long-awaited feature has finally arrived for select beta testers on Android: the ability to filter chats directly from the home page. The latest WhatsApp version 2.23.14.17 brings a revamped and simplified home UI, complete with intuitive filters that allow users to navigate through their conversations effortlessly.

As reported by WABetaInfo, this feature is currently exclusive to users enrolled in the Google beta test program. With the new update, WhatsApp categorizes chats into three primary filters: "all," "unread," and "group." Opting for the "all" filter displays all chats, while selecting "unread" filters only unread messages. Meanwhile, tapping on the "group" filter presents group chats exclusively. To access this feature, users simply need to scroll down to the bottom of the chat page.

Below the filters, WhatsApp conveniently showcases locked chats, introduced a few months ago, along with an option to access archived chats. Additionally, users can also access status updates and community features from the same menu. Locked chats on WhatsApp offer added security, protected by either a pin code or biometrics such as fingerprint or face unlock.

In a recent update, WhatsApp is also testing a new security feature, displaying an "end-to-end encrypted" banner with a padlock icon beneath the user name. This provides users with quick assurance regarding the enhanced security of their conversations. Moreover, iOS users can rejoice as WhatsApp recently released an update fixing the copy-paste issue on the platform.

With these exciting new features and enhancements, WhatsApp continues to prioritize user experience and security, ensuring seamless communication and peace of mind for millions of users worldwide. Stay tuned for further updates and improvements as WhatsApp continues to evolve and innovate.
